Put AI to work.
Without putting your business at risk.

Your team has probably had a go with AI already. The hard part is turning that into better everyday work, safely, and making it stick. That's what I help owners, directors and team leaders do: hands-on training on your team's own tasks, sensible safeguards, and habits that last after the training day. It works for any UK business, and particularly for defence, aviation and regulated teams, where getting it wrong costs more.

Two working AI agents by mid-afternoon on the training day

Built by the team on their own work: a six-step proposal workflow with checks built in, and a policy agent that reviews by exception.

It was an excellent day and a very worthwhile investment for us.

15 to 20 minutes saved per safety report

An AI assistant built around the SHIELD human factors taxonomy, and the team trained to use it. It also questioned codes they'd been using out of habit.

Paul has made a real difference to CHIRP's global reporting programme. It worked from day one, giving us faster, more complete and more consistent insights into complex data sets.

AI's speed, without losing the agency's voice

Two sessions built around their own business, so everyone starts from the same on-brand base. The team now use it on everyday work.

Loved the course, have used it so much already in the last week for things I would not have previously thought about using it for.

Sound familiar?

The tools are in. The value isn't, yet.

Nobody's doing anything wrong. It just hasn't turned into better everyday work yet. These are the problems I hear about most from owners, directors and team leaders, and what training can realistically change.

  • NowYou've paid for AI tools, but the value is patchy. A few people use them well. Most hardly touch them.

With trainingYour whole team working on real tasks from their own jobs, with the tools you already pay for, and leaving with something they'll use on Monday.

  • NowConfidence is low. People use AI like a search box, or keep well away in case they get it wrong.

With trainingPeople who can brief AI properly, check what comes back and know when to overrule it. Mixed confidence is normal, and nobody gets left behind.

  • NowYou're uneasy about accuracy, sensitive information and accountability. Who checks it? What should never go in? Who signs it off?

With trainingGround rules your team has agreed: what never goes into an AI tool, what gets checked before anything goes out, and a named person who owns it.

  • NowThe enthusiasm fades. Everyone's keen after the training. A month later, the old habits are back.

With trainingFollow-through to match: resources to come back to, help applying it to real work, and a check on what's stuck and what hasn't.

  • NowYou need results, not another project. Nobody has spare time to run an AI initiative.

With trainingStarting points that slot into the work you already do, with the benefit measured against a baseline if you want the evidence.

That's what Practical AI for Your Team is for: hands-on training, sensible safeguards and help to make it last. See the three levels ↓

Team training

Practical AI for Your Team

It's one hands-on programme, built around your team's own work, at three levels. Every level starts with the same hands-on training day. What changes is how much support your team receives to apply the learning, make it stick and demonstrate the results. I deliver every level personally.

Practical AI team training from £396 per delegate, per day.

Hands-on training for teams of 10–16 people, with three levels of support to help your people learn, apply and sustain their new skills.

£396 per delegate is the starting price for the Practical AI Workshop: Essentials, full day, with a minimum booking of 10 places and a maximum of 16. Advantage, Flagship and half-day fees are quoted separately, and your total is confirmed in a written quotation before you book. Travel for in-person sessions is charged separately.

Practical AI Workshop

Essentials

Build confidence and capability.

Practical training on your team's work.

Suits: teams starting out, or leaders who want to see how it lands first.

What's included
  • A 30-minute planning call with you, and one question to every delegate beforehand: which task eats your time?
  • A half-day or full day of hands-on training on those tasks
  • Prompts for each person's own work, and a quick-reference card for the desk
  • Two or three quick wins to start on Monday
  • A follow-up email within three working days: what we covered and your next steps
Where I'd suggest most teams start Practical AI Workshop

Advantage

Put learning into practice.

Training, reusable resources and follow-up to help people apply what they've learned.

Suits: teams who need the training to turn into everyday habit.

What's included

Everything in Essentials, plus:

  • A workbook for every delegate to keep and come back to
  • 12 months' access to a private debrief site: every question from the day answered, with your team's prompt library and examples in one place, like the one built for ASG
  • A 60 to 90-minute online follow-up session about three weeks later: what's working, what's stuck, what's next
  • Questions about what we covered answered by email for 30 days, with replies within two working days
Practical AI Workshop

Flagship

Embed change and demonstrate results.

Training, application support, management involvement and evidence of improvement.

Suits: leaders who want measurable change, and regulated teams who need it documented.

What's included

Everything in Advantage, plus:

  • A short baseline survey before the day: the tasks we'll track, how long they take now, confidence, and how much AI is used
  • A 45-minute online briefing for your managers: what to expect, how to support it, what to check
  • Your ground rules written up as a one-page AI use policy, with a simple register of how AI is used
  • Two more online sessions on dates fixed at the start: a one-hour clinic, and a two-hour guided build: I coach while your team builds one workflow in the tools you already have. It's coaching, not a software project
  • A 90-day review: the same survey again, a one-page before-and-after, and a call to talk it through

Every level includes

  • Training built around your team's real tasks, in person or online
  • Plain English, hands on, and nobody put on the spot
  • The 10-80-10 method: brief it, let it work, check it
  • Safe-use ground rules your team agrees on the day
  • The 30-day guarantee on the training

If the training doesn't give your team clear, practical value, I'll refund it.

Tell me within 30 days of the training day and I'll refund the training element. For Essentials, that means the whole fee. For Advantage and Flagship, it's the training element, shown separately in your quotation; additional support already provided isn't refunded. Your team needs to have taken part, that's all. No hassle.

Not sure which level? That's what the AI Fit Conversation is for. We'll work it out together, and if there's a sensible next step, I'll follow up with a short written outline.

Why it's different

What I tell every room before we start

People I train are already good at their jobs but worried AI will make them look slow. So that's where we start: plain English, your own work, nobody put on the spot, and two or three things you'll use on Monday. Especially if you've been handed Copilot, Claude or ChatGPT and told to get on with it.

“You're going to be okay. You're not going to be exposed. You're not going to be made to look stupid or silly. We will stop and answer all your questions.”

The clever stuff can wait until everyone's relaxed.

  • Confidence first, then the skill, then the habit. People get a useful result early, on their own work, and follow-up sized to the level you choose catches what's slipping.
  • Safe use from the first minute. After 40+ years in defence aviation, training and safety, it's part of the method, not something bolted on at the end.
  • Taught by someone who found IT hard. I couldn't really type. Now I build a website in eight minutes, by talking. If I can, your team can.

Featured case study

ASG and cyberISMS

Two working agents by mid-afternoon. A team that now talks about how it works.

The problem
ASG delivers drone services, training and consultancy across defence, law enforcement and other regulated environments. cyberISMS runs managed IT, cyber security and compliance. Neither can afford to experiment freely with AI.
On the day
A hands-on day for six of the team, on their own tasks, with the governance their work demands. Afterwards, a private debrief site with every question answered and a plan for 30 days to 24 months.
What they built
Two working agents by mid-afternoon: a six-step proposal workflow with checks built in, and a policy agent that reviews by exception. It flagged real legal changes on its very first run.
Since then
In the client's words: quicker, better-quality outputs, improved consistency and useful challenge, and a “measured but very noticeable” increase in AI use across bid reviews, financial forecasting and marketing planning.
Not measured yet
Time saved, cost or financial return. It's early days, and figures will only go here once they've been measured.

Thank you again for your time. It's been hugely beneficial to my AI use going forward.

Brief, delegate, audit: written up live in every session.
How the training works

Brief. Delegate. Audit.

It's the method every session teaches, practised on your team's own tasks. Brief AI properly, delegate the heavy lifting, then audit what comes back before it goes out under your name.

We remember it as 10-80-10: about 10% of the effort on the brief, 80% the AI doing the work, and 10% you checking it. Teams tell us it changes how they use AI.

The numbers are a memory aid, not a rule. How much checking a task needs depends on what it is and what's riding on it. A quick social post might need a read-through. A bid, a safety report or anything with client data needs far more than 10%. What doesn't change: AI helps with the work, and people stay responsible for it.

Brief

Tell the AI what you want, who it's for, and what good looks like. Thirty seconds of briefing is the difference between a generic, slightly-wrong answer and a usable one.

Delegate

The draft, the analysis, the first version. This is where AI earns its keep, and where your time comes back.

Audit

AI will sound completely confident about something completely wrong. The last step is reading it, fixing it and putting your name to it. Skip this and you're not saving time, you're shipping mistakes faster.

Safe use runs through every session: what goes into an AI tool, what gets checked before anything goes out, and who owns it. The training day, safe use and a prompt you can try today →

AI Fit Conversation

Thirty minutes. You'll leave with your first AI task, whether we work together or not.

There's no charge and no pressure, just a useful conversation about your team and AI. Pick a time that suits you and it goes straight into my calendar.

What we'll talk about

  • Where your team is now with AI
  • The tools you already pay for
  • The tasks eating your team's time
  • Any worries about data, accuracy or getting it wrong
  • Which level of team training would fit, if training's what you need

What you'll leave with

  • The first task worth handing to AI, and roughly what it's worth in time
  • What your team should never put into an AI tool
  • If there's a sensible next step, a short written outline afterwards

If we're not the right fit, I'll say so and point you somewhere better.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost?

Practical AI team training starts at £396 per delegate, per day. That's the Practical AI Workshop: Essentials, full day, for teams of 10–16 people. Advantage, Flagship and half-day fees are quoted separately, and your total is confirmed in a written quotation before you book. There's no VAT to add. Travel for in-person sessions is charged separately, and the Fit Review is a fixed fee, agreed before we start. All three levels of Practical AI for Your Team come with the 30-day guarantee: if your team took part and you tell me within 30 days of the training day that it didn't give clear, practical value, I'll refund the training element. For Essentials, that's the whole fee. For Advantage and Flagship, it's the training element shown separately in your quotation; additional support already provided isn't refunded.

What if our team is smaller than 10, or bigger than 16?

The minimum booking is 10 places. If your team is smaller, we'll talk through the options in your AI Fit Conversation. With more than 16 people, we run a second session, so everyone gets proper hands-on time.

What's the difference between Essentials, Advantage and Flagship?

The training day is the same at every level. Essentials builds confidence and capability: practical training on your team's work. Advantage puts learning into practice: reusable resources and follow-up to help people apply what they've learned. Flagship embeds change and demonstrates results: application support, your managers involved, and evidence of improvement. If you're not sure which fits, we'll work it out on the call.

My team isn't technical. Will anyone feel out of their depth?

No, and this is a promise we take seriously. Sessions are plain English, hands-on and built around your real work. Nobody gets exposed, nobody gets made to look silly, and every question gets answered. Mixed confidence levels, from keen early adopters to complete sceptics, are normal in every room we train.

Should we start with a Fit Review or team training?

Practical AI for Your Team trains your people. A Fit Review looks at your business first: where AI would genuinely help, where it wouldn't, and what's safe. If you already know your team needs the skills, start with the training. If you're not sure where AI fits, or whether it does, start with the Fit Review. We'll work out which in your AI Fit Conversation. (That's the free 30-minute call; the Fit Review is the in-depth, paid piece of work.)

Our team's already been trained. Can we just have the follow-through?

Yes. If your team has already had AI training, from me or from someone else, we can talk about the follow-through on its own: clinics, a guided build and a review, without repeating the training day. We'll agree what fits on the call.

Is our data safe?

That depends on what goes in and which tools you use, so that's where we start. On day one we agree what's fair game for AI and what never is, which tools are approved, and how to handle client or sensitive material. I won't tell you a tool is secure without seeing your setup. If you need a firm answer, we'll work it through with your IT or data protection lead.

Which AI tool should we use?

Usually the one you already pay for. If you're on Microsoft 365, that's often Copilot. We work across ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot and Gemini, compare them honestly, and help you decide whether one platform is enough. The judgement we teach works in all of them.

Another question? Ask me on the call. There's more on measuring value, time and the book on How I work.
